ON-LINE RESOURCES RELATED TO TANZANIA

  • Tanzania:The index has been created by The Norwegian Council for Africa, as part of its comprehensive effort to strengthen the knowledge of Africa and African affairs. The projects has been developed in cooperation with the information company Gazette, and wit h financial support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Tanzania:Resources represents part of Karen Fung's Africa South of the Sahara Electronic Guide. It covers: news, history, geography, etc.
  • Tanzanet: Comprehensive resource on Tanzania that includes: news (in English and Swahili), links, discussion lists and photo gallery.
  • Official Tanzania National Website: The website in English and Kisawhili. This is the official website of the Tanzanian Government, with all relevant information on Tanzania.
  • African Art (UVA):Aesthetics and Meaning. This electronic exhibition catalog contains a number of photographs from the Bayly Art Museum's recent exhibition of African art. Related materials to be offered in the future include an exhibition of African masks.
  • Greater Horn Information Exchange: The GHIE, a no-fee resource accessible via email, telnet, gopher, and the WWW, is catalyzing the sharing of site reports, fact sheets, activity summaries, data sets, scientific papers and analyses. Field operations guides, disaster histories, and activity summaries are being added. Through an exciting tool called Interactive Data Rendering, GHIE users can select data to create application.
  • Languages of Tanzania: The Ethnologue is a catalog of the world's languages including information on alternate names, number of speakers, location, dialects, linguistic affiliation, and other sociolinguistic and demographic information. This database represents the 12th edition of the Ethnologue, published in 1992.
  • Tanzania News: Tanzania News is provided by WorldNews.Com.
  • Kilimanjaro Adventure Travel: Includes pictures, and travel infomation to various parts of Africa
  • Sukuma Museum of Tanzania: The Sukuma people of Tanzania live in an area called Usukuma which is located to the west and south of Lake Victoria. This web site provides series of articles and pictures that documents different issues of Sukuma culture.
  • Tanzania High Commission Office: Tanzania High Commission Office (TANZANREP-UK) is the office in charge of diplomatic activities between the Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and that of the United Kingdom and of the Ireland. It provides information on history, business, tourism, politics, news, and other web sites on Tanzania.
  • The University Of Dar Es Salaam: Established in 1970, UDSM is the first University of Tanzania The University has some 3500 undergraduates and some 200 graduates. It is located in Dar Es Salaam, the main business city of Tanzania. UDSM also comprises of Muhimbili University College o f Health Sciences (300 students) and University College of Land and Architectural Studies which offers architecture related studies.
  • Zanzibar Unveiled: Comprehensive website site on Zanzibar's history, with lots of pictures and illustration covering the island's landscape, peoples, rulers, buildings and historic links with Oman.
  • Zanzibar Travel Network: Travel information, including pictures, maps, and history of Zanzibar. Zanzibar is an archipelago made up of Zanzibar and Pemba Islands, and several islets.
  • Zanzibar Home Page: This page includes information on Zanzibar's geography, history, in addition to historical pictures, and statistics.
